Social change maker II

The $64000 dollar question is what a person needs to become a social change maker- Lots of money, high IQ more than 120 or a large number of followers or a high social status. I do not know how much these parameters influence but one thing is of paramount importance to become the social change maker i.e. empathy for the suffering human being and indomitable zeal to serve the society. There are many examples in the society, when a person succeeded to change the society not because of money or intelligence but because of sheer determination. This change could be macro level or micro level.

I have a simple example of eighteen years old, BSC. I part student Ramesh of my neighbouring village. That village has a middle primary school with 70 students and two teachers. Like almost other government school of our country, this school had everything proper and prim on paper. Generally one teacher used to come every day in the school other would do government /office or home work (?). Teacher beat students because they were weak in studies and would not complete homework on time. The parents of students, who are generally labourer and farmer, felt that teaching cannot exist without beating of students. Ramesh always felt bad about it and talked with teachers but to no avail. When he complained to village school monitoring committee about the physical punishment of students, committee member shared the same view as of the parents of students. He was disappointed but not discouraged. He started teaching students free of cost for two hours early in the morning. His unconventional method of teaching attracted the students and learning for them became just like fun, at the same time parents of students as well as teachers of the school also realised that beating the student is not a part of learning and teaching. The condition of school changed drastically. Teachers started coming on time without fail and students were treated well. Thanks to Ramesh intervention, School is functioning well.

Now question comes, why Ramesh was so much concerned about school and students? Why he started teaching student free of cost? Reasons are simple; he was unable to see the suffering of students by the hands of teachers. He really wanted to see the change in school and he did his level best to do so and got the positive results.

Now again question arises in my mind how many young bloods have that kind of sense of responsibility towards society as Ramesh has.
